How 45 Years Turned Into a Life-Changing Opportunity for Traders
This last week, my parents, Louis and Illyce, celebrated 45 years of marriage. I feel so blessed to grow up with parents who are soulmates. It definitely was a huge influence on me, became my standard, and helped me to recognize my soulmate in my wife, Mandi.
I was thinking about what it means to spend almost half of a century together. I’m sure when my parents met and fell in love, they weren’t even thinking about this time. They have spent more time living together and creating a family than they have spent without each other in this life!
When my father set aside his career to launch what would become VantagePoint, his now father-in-law had some serious doubts. “Software?! Nobody has a computer. They’re probably a fad.” “How are you going to take care of my daughter and your new son?” (Spoiler: I was that new son.)
For my dad, it was as the old cliché goes that lightning struck twice. He found his soulmate and he made his dream a reality. And for my mom, she created her own company too and followed her passion of raising horses while raising three boys. All the while, my mom has been that solid, quiet force holding everything together behind the scenes at our company too.
My parents have been great role models both professionally and personally for me and for my entire team. Furthermore, when we say that Vantagepoint is a family, that’s not just a cliché. We see our traders as part of our family too; many of them have also told me what a great example of business-done-right my parents’ story has been for them.
The gift for a 45-year anniversary is Sapphire. My parents have been “true blue” to each other and their vision as they built our company. I’m so proud of them and the values they have instilled in me, my girls, my entire team, and our business.
