Market Technologies Announces Free VantagePoint Version 2.71 Release
Wesley Chapel, FL, June 1, 1998 — Louis B. Mendelsohn, President and Chief Executive Officer, of Market Technologies, announced the availability of its latest version of VantagePoint for five actively traded markets (Bonds, Jyen, Dmark, Sfranc, and S&P) out of the twenty-one markets covered by VantagePoint. The new release is free to all current Version 2.7 clients who have licensed these five programs, and at a nominal cost to clients with earlier versions who want to upgrade any of these five markets to Version 2.71. The new release is available free of charge through internet download from the client-protected area of Market Technologies’ website, www.ProfitTaker.com. There is a small shipping and handling charge for those clients, without internet access, who want the new release to be sent to them on floppy disks. All VantagePoint Version 2.7 clients with any of these five programs are encouraged to email Market Technologies at V271@profitTaker.com as soon as possible to receive the free password needed to download the new programs. According to Mr. Mendelsohn this free release is “in keeping with our long term relationship with our current clients who have helped Market Technologies grow and continue to forge ahead with its R&D program.” Mendelsohn indicates that Version 2.71 “further improves the accuracy of VantagePoint’s forecasts”. In Mendelsohn’s opinion VantagePoint will never be 100% accurate in its predictions, since “there are unforeseen events and random phenomena which are inherent in the financial markets.” Mr. Mendelsohn indicates that he believes that no one will ever be able to predict the markets with greater than 80-85% predictive accuracy at most. Presently, with the introduction of Version 2.71, VantagePoint’s accuracy statistics, based on Market Technologies’ proprietary training/testing protocols, now range from 71-78% accuracy depending on the market and the predicted output involved. Mr. Mendelsohn indicates that he “expects to achieve an accuracy of 80% by the new millennium.” Charges for new versions of VantagePoint are determined by the extensiveness of the revision and the programming costs involved. Sometimes the new versions will be free, available at a modest cost to existing clients, or available at a greater cost as is expected to be the case with the Windows 95/98 32-bit version which will become available by the end of 1998. This version, under development for over the past year, significantly extends the capabilities of VantagePoint and represents the most substantial revision to the program since it first became commercially available in 1991. Market Technologies expects to continue to utilize its website in the future to help keep down the cost of distributing new releases. However, since Mr. Mendelsohn does not wish to have tens of thousands of clients to support, it is likely that as VantagePoint continues to evolve and increase in accuracy, the one-time license fee for new clients will continue to increase as a means of attracting only serious individual traders with sufficient capital needed to trade and a larger percentage of institutional and foreign clients. Market Technologies is a leading developer of software for financial market analysis. Founded in 1979 by Mr. Mendelsohn, the firm has clients in more than thirty countries worldwide. Market Technologies licenses futures trading software, provides consultation to its clients, and develops proprietary models that utilize neural networks and intermarket analysis to forecast prices, moving averages, and short term market trends for twenty-one financial futures markets, including interest rates, stock indices, currencies, and the energy complex.
